ABOVEGROUND & STYLE43 PRESENT: “IT CAME FROM ACROSS THE POND”

    !!!!

It’s all been a bit quiet round these parts over the past few weeks, what with us relocating and not having any internet access. Plus all that festive cheer being rammed down our throats, kinda drained all the creativity out of us.

Luckily free internet access is everywhere these days and so I’ve finally managed to drag myself away from the festering mass of turkey, chocolate coins and neverending Tim Allen movies, to see what we’ve missed out on since we were last on it. And where better to start than the UK compilation we dropped a fortnight ago, thanks to our American friends at aboveGround Magazine.

    D.GRITTY “REAL TALK” RELEASE

    GRITTY

Wales is dropping a lot of nice hip hop right about now, with people like Metabeats, Ruffstylz, Mudmowth and Squid Ninjaz, making big movements recently. 2010 looks set to be a big year for UK hip hop in general, but I think we’ll see even more quality raps coming out of Wales in particular, and someone sure to be at the front of the charge is D.Gritty.

    MYSTRO “F.D.T.” E.P.

F.D.T.The Mighty Mystro, MysDiggi, Digmund Freud - whatever name you give him, we can all agree that he is one of the most respected emcees to come on to the scene in the last decade. And he’s not just limited to being a natural born spitter; those who have checked his recent “Mystro Investigates” series will know what I’m talking about. (Those who don’t, hit up his site)

His spitting is what this is all about though, as this month sees the release of his latest lab creation: the “F.D.T.” EP. Luckily for us Mystro seems to always bring the tightest deliveries to everything and if anything he has only upped his game, during the hiatus since his last releases, a couple of years ago.

CERTIFIED BANGER PRESENTS ON THE RADAR VOL. 5

OTR5The fifth installment of the UK hip hop showcase series is out now, so we thought we’d drop a little science on what you lucky listeners have in store this time round, if you haven’t got yours yet.

In line with the original “On the Radar” mission statement, this is an opportunity to gather some of the best hip hop on the rise at the moment in this country - along with some of our more notorious wordsmiths and beatmakers - and give them all a platform to be heard by a wider audience.

Britain’s repping hard on this one: from Scotland to London and Yorkshire to Wales; proving that hip hop in this country has been as fresh and original as ever this year.

    SUSPECT PACKAGES LIVE: XMAS BASHING!

    Xmas Bashing!!

Hot on the heels of November’s dose of dope from Suspect Packages, Disorda now has Christmas in his sights as he has lined up another massive show for the festive season

This time the line up will feature one of my favourite crews of all time, The IRS. Their album is still one of my favourite UK releases of the past few years and their live shows are always a riot, so this should be no different. THE STONES THROW XMAS CANCELLED

We’ve recently learned that the Stones Throw Xmas show has been cancelled. Tony Adams, from The Doctor’s Orders, sent out this message on Facebook earlier this evening:

“We here at The Doctor’s Orders are very sorry to announce the cancellation of the Stones Throw Xmas party @ Plan B. Due to the tragic loss of our sister and photographer Alicia’s Eyes Wisdom we are not able to commit to the work load involved in this event and would rather her memory was respected in a different way when the time is right. We will be contacting all ticket agents to arrange full refunds. Sorry for the disappointment and thank you for your understanding. The Doctor’s Orders”

Our condolences to Tony and all of Alicia’s friends and family.
