    P.O.S INTERVIEW!

dsc_1341This week saw the release of the video for 'Never Better', the single taken from the album of the same name, released earlier this year. The third album from the Rhymesayers signed, Minnesotan hip hop marvel P.O.S, proved a huge success on the underground hip hop scene across the globe. With an album that represents his best work to date, leading to tours across the US - including the Warped Tour - supporting bands like Bouncing Souls, and relentlessly releasing some of the best hip hop I've heard in the past couple of years, alongside some of my other favourite rappers in the collaborative collective Doomtree. With such success since the release of 'Never Better' and the Doomtree, 'False Hopes', album, it seemed high time P.O.S took some time to come out to the UK; bringing his good friend and fellow Doomtree member Paper Tiger along with him. Well here at Style43 we're always ready and willing to hang out with our favourite rappers. This is what went down..

    CIPH BARKER

CIPH BARKER Holland hasn't got too many English lyricists any more since the Nederhop scene started rapidly growing. A buble has formed, a language barrier has been built. However, there is a small group of writers that do want to spread their words internationally. In 2004, SuperCharger Records was founded, and I went to one of the guys to see what's happening nowadays. Bring your leish, and focus on my man: Ciph Barker. The Dutch sweet water ponds hold a lot more sharks than most fish hope for.

    M9INE INTERVIEW!

M9ineRegular visitors to the site will already know that here at Style43 we carry a torch for the Triple Darkness collective and M9ine in particular, thanks to his immense 2008 offering, "144,000". So when the opportunity for an interview cropped up, we didn't even have to think about what our answer would be. Here's what went down:

    FELIX BRAUN INTERVIEW

COTC front cover"Children Of The Can: 25 Years of Bristol Graffiti" documents the Bristol graffiti story from the early days of 3D’s New York-inspired work and John Nation's grass roots influence at the Barton Hill Youth Club in Bristol, to the current crop of artists who have helped to make Bristol’s graffiti scene one of the UK's most influential and diverse. "Children Of The Can" features the work of all the city's best-known and (until now) slept-on talent, including: 2Keen, 3D, Awkward, Banksy, Cheo, China Mike, Filthy Luker, Haka, Inkie, Jeff Row, Jody, Just Another Crew, Kato, KTF, Lokey, Mr.Jago, Mudwig, Nick Walker, Rowdy, Shimz, Sickboy, Soker, Souls On Fire, TNP, TUB, Turoe, Twentieth Century Frescoes, What Collective, Will Barras, The Z-Boys and many more…

    GAVIN WATSON Q&A

gw5British Photographer Gavin Watson has taken an array of diverse images in his career which has spanned over 30 years. Particularly well-known for the book ‘Skins’ released a few years ago now, these images, amongst many others have become strikingly significant and historically valuable. More recently working for magazines such as ArtRocker & Vice, and photographing bands such as Gallows, we of course jumped at the chance for a brief Q&A with the man himself..

    PENNYWISE INTERVIEW!!

Yeah, ya heard right. Californian punk legends Pennywise are currently rolling in the success of their recent release and ninth stduio album, "Reason To Believe". Bass player Randy Bradbury took some time out to chat to Style43 about the album recording, their loyal fans here in Britain, and upcoming tours..

NO USE FOR A NAME INTERVIEW!

I managed to catch up with No Use For A Name’s frontman Tony Sly and bassist Matt Riddle on the second date of their UK leg of "The Feel Good Tour of the Year" which has and will see the band hit up the UK, USA, Europe and Japan, promoting their latest release "The Feel Good Record Of The Year". As I ducked through a very small man sized hole I thought to myself “Shit, this is No Use For A Name. My first interview”. I met the guys and took a seat next to Tony and opposite Matt, and this is what happened…

    TRIPLE DARKNESS INTERVIEW

MCs Nasheron & Cyrus Malachi aka Hackney based duo Phalanx Heresy teamed up with the West London based M9 to form Triple Darkness. After their debut album 'Anathema' being reviewed on the site a few weeks back, we thought it would be cool to get some words from the guys in this interview in the run up to their much-hyped support slot with Redman & Method Man later this month in London. The album, featuring Skriblah DanGogh, Blind Alphabetz, Kyza Smirnoff, Amenoir, D21, & Blasphemy, and produced entirely by Beat Butcha & Chemo...went off a storm down here at Style43. ATMOSPHERE INTERVIEW!!

Eleven years after becoming the first hip-hop act to put the Twin Cities on the map, Atmosphere has grown into one of the most accomplished MC/producer duos around. Between Slug and Ant, they’ve released six albums, 11 Sad Clown tour albums and various side-projects like Felt — amounting in well over a million units sold. And along the way have performed to sold-out crowds everywhere from modest sized venues in their hometown to colossal festivals in Japan. Since releasing their 1997 debut, Overcast!, Ant’s ASR-born melodic beats and Slug’s open book and observational style of rapping continues to evolve into hip-hop that’s more honest — more textured. And the praise for these Rhymesayers pioneers hasn’t stopped flowing in. With exactly two months to go until the release of their latest album, Underground Hip Hops finest kindly gave Style43 not only this interview, but an entire day to chill with them in London to hear the new record get its first spin on UK soil. Needless to say, it sounds dope.

    THE LOVED ONES INTERVIEW

Philladelphia punks The Loved Ones caused a storm over here in November whilst on tour with NOFX. Their second LP 'Build & Burn' is due for release next month, a follow up to the 2006 release 'Keep Your Heart'. Produced by longtime friends and tourmates Pete Steinkopf and Bryan Kienlen of the Bouncing Souls; recorded at the Wild Arctic in Queens and Kate’s Place (a.k.a. the Souls’ manager’s basement) in Asbury Park, New Jersey; and engineered by Bob Strakele (The Hold Steady), 'Build & Burn' carries the spirit of nearly everyone who touched it. The boys kindly took some time out to tell Style43 all about their influences, the tour, and their new record.

    JEHST INTERVIEW!

Fresh from touring Australia after the release of the Mengi Bus Mixtape, one of the UK's favourite rappers, Jehst, took some time out to chat to Style43 about his collaborations, production, and plans for the future..

    EXCLUSIVE GALLOWS INTERVIEW.

It might be easy to make your first impressions of Gallows a brief trend in a false scene, but something tells me these boys will be around for a while. Listening to their tracks and watching them play live is great experience, they rip up the stage like a tornado and their songs have an element of anger that a fair amount of people can relate to. They have been together just over 18 months and have already graced the cover of Kerrang! magazine, toured the US at the South By South West Festival, and most recently signed to major US punk label, Epitaph. Guitarist Stephen Carter took some time to talk to Style43 in his first solo interview since joining the band.
