• END OF THE WEAK @ BRIXTON JAMM THIS FRIDAY

EODubGet yourselves down to Brixton this Friday for the emcee contest that puts all standard battles in the goddamn shade. Yessir, this week sees the return of the mighty End of the Weak, as the first heat of the UK challenge takes place at Brixton Jamm.

Five top emcees will be tested in five areas of rhyming, in a quest to find the UK’s best all rounder, who will then go on to rep for us in the World Final in Berlin.

If you aren’t familiar with the five disciplines that the challengers will face, it will go down like this: 1st Round – written track, 2nd Round – acappella, 3rd Round – freestyle, 4th Round – MC v DJ, 5th Round – cypha skills.

The famous five this time round are: Genesis Elijah, Verb T, Phoenix Da Icefire, Blasphemy and Justice; making it one helluva showdown. There will also be live music from three dope showcases: Kingpin, marking the forthcoming release of his album; Sha Stimuli and DJ Victorious from Brooklyn; and also the UK’s top production showcase, Louis Den Beat Cypher, featuring BUG, Dockmini, Kelakovski, Shears and Jeekay.

Plus there will be some turntablism action from the resident DJs: Jazz, Snips and Snuff, and some dancehall, reggae and dubstep in room 2, courtesy of Lionbeat, Bashment Bish, We Are Dubist and Dark. The event will be hosted by our very own EOW World Champs, Stig of the Dump and Jack Flash, who won the contests in 2008 and 2009 respectively.

All this will be happening on Friday at the Jamm and it’ll only cost you a fiver on the door, if you get there before 10:30pm, and then £8 afterwards. Bargain!
