Wales is dropping a lot of nice hip hop right about now, with people like Metabeats, Ruffstylz, Mudmowth and Squid Ninjaz, making big movements recently. 2010 looks set to be a big year for UK hip hop in general, but I think we’ll see even more quality raps coming out of Wales in particular, and someone sure to be at the front of the charge is D.Gritty.

His new single is going to be released next month and it heralds the arrival of his long-awaited debut album, “No Struggle, No Progress“. On the suitably named, “Real Talk“, we hear Gritty doing just that: spilling his conscious commentary on a solemn, solid beat from DJ First Aid. Personally, I think it’s dope. I really like Gritty’s flow anyway and he is definitely at the top of his game on this one, which means the album should cause some waves too.

The single and album are both being released on Gritty’s own label, Rags Records. The date for the single is 25 January 2010 but as yet, there is no confirmed release date for the album. More when we know what’s what.
