DJ VADIM ALBUM LAUNCH & COMPETITION!!

vadiiimYes that's right, the T-E-R-R-O-R-IST is back with a brand new live album! 'U Can’t Lurn Imaginashun' is out on BBE in May, with the first single 'Hidden Treasure' featuring Sabirajade out mid-April, and we will be celebrating the launch with a very special, fully-live performance at Whitechapel's Rhythm Factory. DJ Vadim, a man who this year conquered cancer has dug deep, learned new skills and used his imagination to produce his best work yet. From deep in his basement studio he has distilled a fine selection of beats, utilising the skills we all know and love as well as exploring new musical territories, as 'Hidden Treasure' shows. A hold on to your seat, white-knuckle rollercoaster of a track that combines the rawness of Ska, jump-up party vibes, and spine tingling vocals, set against reggae-tinged, massive track 'Soldier' serves as solid proof that The Isolationist's prolificacy is nowhere near diminishing, nor is his talent or exploratory demeanour. With his full band featuring some very special guests playing this evening, expect an introduction to the peak of a hard-working, much deserving DJ/producer's career.

    INAPPROPRIATE MEDIA

The work of self-righteous wankers I was going to write a big piece about this, full of rage and bile and wit, but then I thought no, let the people see & read for themselves what this bunch of wankers think they're doing, but in reality their argument is more pointless and childish than the work of Banksy ever could be. Read the Bristolian backlash on their site and come to your own conclusions. http://www.appropriatemedia.net/

Marina and The Diamonds - Mowgli’s Road [The Last Skeptik Remix]

marinacoverFresh for your listening pleasure comes one of the most banging remixes to reach your eardrums in recent weeks. 'Mowgli's Road' sees the leftfield pop starlet MARINA AND THE DIAMONDS flex her metaphorical genius on this, the B-Side to the JO WHILEY supported 'Obsessions'. Adding a distinctly hip-hop meets dubstep synthesized post irony to 'Mowgli's Road', THE LAST SKEPTIK shows the world precisely why he is fast becoming a sought after commodity for remix japery. Producer, DJ and all round nice fellow THE LAST SKEPTIK has laced instrumentals for the likes of SWAY, GET CAPE. WEAR, CAPE. FLY., JEHST, MF GRIMM and KYZA, and is currently putting the final touches on a compilation of recent remixes featuring reworkings of DANIEL MERRIWEATHER, THE GAME, GET CAPE, ESLAM JAWAAD, MONGREL, JOE BUDDEN and LOWKEY among many other big names yet to be announced.

MR. LIF “I HEARD IT TODAY” ALBUM REVIEW

Mr. LIf - I Heard It TodayMr. Lif is back in our lives and he brings with him one of the timeliest records ever produced in hip hop. Always one with his finger on the pulse, Lif has seemingly taken every concern and every bit of anger shared by the rest of the planet over the current financial pandemonium, and then crammed the whole thing into, "I Heard It Today", his 3rd studio album. I reckon that politically motivated music can either be a seen as a valid advocate for change, or as some sort of jumping-on-the-bandwagon/marketing ploy. Luckily what we have here falls solidly in the former category.

    PRETTY LIGHTS

Pretty LightsPretty Lights is doing pretty well in Colorado, USA. In fact, producer Derek Vincent Smith doing so well that the music is downloadable for FREE, and we all like free goodies. You can download the double cd on the Pretty Lights Website. It's best described as down tempo electro music with hiphop influences. The live gigs should be pretty awesome since Derek is then accompanied by a drummer. Raw energetic stuff. Keep one eye open for the tour dates, they might just get booked in the UK if we're lucky.
