Cargo is 8 years old, and to celebrate they have invited two of their favourite bands, The Golden Silvers and 33Hz to show their stuff. To top it up Big Lego Man himself: Ego Leonard, will be visiting us from Holland to paint LIVE in the yard. We are excited, and you should be too.

You may remember the following story that broke out back in August:

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - A giant, smiling Lego man was fished out of the sea in the Dutch resort of Zandvoort on Tuesday. Workers at a drinks stall rescued the 2.5-metre (8-foot) tall model with a yellow head and blue torso. “We saw something bobbing about in the sea and we decided to take it out of the water,” said a stall worker. “It was a life-sized Lego toy.”

Thankfully Lego Man recovered fully from his maritime ordeal and will be present in all his 8-foot glory at Cargo’s 8th Birthday Party on Febuary 11th.

Ego Leonard, the man responsible for the prank, will be showcasing his art in our restaurant (up until the end of February) and painting live out in the yard. If you like your art of the unusual kind, don’t miss this rare chance to see this Dutch master of the absurd at work!

The evening’s live music will come courtesy of The Golden Silvers and 33Hz. Ben Moorhouse, Gwylim Gold and Alexis Nuñez formed The Golden Silvers in 2007. The London based trio have been described by Time Out magazine as “(an) infectious, oddly futuristic mix of Blockheads, of Montreal and doo wop”.

33Hz have been releasing electro-pop gems for 6 years now on various labels and are finally ready to drop their first album. So you can expect to hear a lot more in 09 from this pink noise band formed by Ben Lowe, Timothy G. Wagner and Brion Isaac. But before the hype machine engulfs them, catch them live, and for nowt!

On the wheels of steel, the Cargo All-Stars will be playing their tunes of the moment, so expect a highly intoxicated cocktail of dubstep to disco, wonky beats to electro-pop.
