A few days ago I woke up with quite a hangover, feeling bad. Walked to the front door and there were CD’s waiting for me, but also an unannounced 7”inch Para single. While fixin’ breakfast I decided to play this Breakin Bread 10 year aniversary celebration record on my kitchen deck which normally is only used for Glenn Miller kinda sounds… I did not expect it to be this good! It absolutely surprised me and improved my mood by a million times. Rescue Me on Side A involves great funky breaks and Motown vocals that made me want to just go back to the house I was at that night and drink all the left over booze and have a private party with my new single. Side B, High Speed Dubbing, carries on where Rescue Me stops, cranks up the tempo and hypes up the solo dancing some more. 7:26 minutes later I returned to my breakfast routine and began the day with a big smile on me face.

Para is the South West’s answer to Cut Chemist!! His 3rd single on Breakin Bread has 2 tracks of pure dancefloor action!

A. Rescue Me Para shows he’s maturing beyond hip hop tracks. This is a radio record that builds as Para brings in different elements of the catchy, uptempo beat and dares you not to nod your head. To top it all off he brings in Caitlin from Slo-Mo for vocal duties and she delivers classy and heartfelt vocals
B. High Speed Dubbing A cut and paste record like only Breakin Bread can do it. Pop into a Breakin Bread night at the Jazz Café or any gig the crew are playing worldwide and you’ll hear tracks like this. Beats to make you dance, hooks galore and some cutting and scratching. You don’t hear this sort of stuff on the radio or in the charts but it rules dancefloors all over!

Background:
Para, a DJ and producer from Swindon, was introduced to hip-hop around 1988, having a local scene that was active in all elements of Hip Hop Para quickly learnt about the history and was instantly hooked. After experimenting with all elements he decided to focus on Djing.
Para began by making a series of Mix -tapes which he would hand out locally. These developed into a series of cut and paste mixes that took the idea of cut and paste to the next level.
One of Para’s releases “The Saxton Collection” (put out in 2005) received great reviews in this country and across the pond and even earned the tag of “mix of the year” in some media. This was followed by “Feats per Minute” feat DJ Yoda, another cut and paste style mix that fuses snippets of records from many musical genres in an innovative and original style. His skills didn’t go unnoticed ,one of his scratch tracks was released on “The Return of the Bomb DJ” which over the years has featured the worlds greatest Hip-Hop DJs. His love for digging breaks also led to the realms of production.

He surprised all his fans by joining the Breakin Bread roster in late 2007 to release his first production on 7″. “You Never Change” turned heads worldwide with its sheer funkiness, dancefloor focus and mysteriously familiar vocal. Para is building towards an album release in 2009 with more 7″s in the pipeline and a new mix CD, check here!
Para fits nicely into the Breakin Bread stable as another purveyor of quality, breakbeat tinged, funky as hell, dancefloor music.
