Listen to Hot Club De Paris. Another band from Liverpool who I’m plugging, but as far as I’m concerned this is no bad thing. They have a new album out called Live at Dead Lake, chock full of catchy and upbeat songs which are actually well written and insightful, not just cheerful nothingness. It was also produced by Brian Deck, the same dude who produces Modest Mouse, so you know shit’s tight. Their Minutemen cover is a belter, as is their single and my song of the week Hey Housebrick.
