UPCOMING HARDCORE SHOWS, STICK ‘EM IN YER FILOFAX!

Posted by Henry on 12.04.2008, 14:28

Two good shows coming up within 3 days of each other. The first is on June 5th at The Shakespeare in Sheffield. It’s worth going to just to see Deal With It, and though I haven’t seen Bitter End, Meltdown or Reign Supreme live, I can safely recommend Cold Snap who are fucking incredible live. It’s funny, within hardcore the people who play in bands tend to be nice fellows, which makes gigs all the more fun to go to. It’s a bit like how I imagine going to a knitting swap meet is for grannies, perhaps with a bit more moshing though.

The second show is on the 8th June, this time in Manchester at the Retrobar.

First and foremost, I’d like to draw attention to Hellmouth. I was lucky enough to hear their 7″ the other day, and it is a stonker. Hellmouth are one of those bands who are actually talented musicians, especially Kris who can wield an axe better than a Norweigian lumberjack. Deal With It are playing here too, so if you didn’t get enough of Possie Mike walking on your head (and, let’s face it, you never could!) then here is your chance to see ‘em again. The other headliners are Dirty Money. I heard a rumour that they are both real and official, though these reports are yet to be confirmed. What I can confirm is that their lead singer, the loot stackin’, hoe slappin G-to-the-Raham can do the wildest barspins this side of NYC. Jokes aside, fucking amazing band who are always a treat to see live and again one comprised of a selection of thoroughly nice and intelligent young men, the kind you could bring home for dinner at your mum’s house who wouldn’t talk about ‘fingering bums’…oh no wait…

There’s a bunch of other bands on the bill who I’m not familiar with, but anyone who puts the previous three bands on the bill must have good taste, so I’ve got faith. If you’re in the North you shouldn’t hesitate to make the journey because if Hardcore is your bag, both shows are bound to be worth attending. And for us Southern fairies, if Ben Lewis can ride a bmx from Liverpool to Sheffield just to ride, sitting on a megabus for a few hours is nothing.
