For those old/young/cool enough to remember Space Invaders, the video/game phenomenon of the 1980’s, will have noticed around London and other European Cities, tiny mosaics from French Artist Space Invader.

He has been filling the streets with his work inspired by the original game for the past 10 years, spreading them over more than 35 of the world’s biggest cities. This year sees the third self-released book by Space Invader ‘Invasion in the UK’ following up the previous books of Los Angeles & Paris, which is available to buy online now.

Creating and publishing these books without the help of a book publisher, they’re a standard, good size, with a nifty plastic cover to keep all the inside goodness crispy clean. There are more anecdotes and text in this UK book than in the 1st one about Paris. The book present photos of 8 UK invasions and ones of Manchester in 2004 and Newcastle in 2007.

173 invaders have been displayed in the UK streets between 1999 and 2007. These also come in the form of Pacman ghosts & smiley faces. Look up, thats the key to finding them. As Invader has been involved in several indoor shows in England, these are also featured in the book. Consequently his last project with Rubic Cubes is documented.
