Saturday Dec 1st marked a monumental day in the UK music scene, as some of the biggest names in the worlds of Grime and Hip Hop came together in support of the BLACK BOYS REMIX video shoot!

The original video, which premiered on MTV’s THE LICK, has already had heavy rotation on all the major music channels and caused a monumental impact on its own.

The remix is set to go down as a classic piece of British music video history!

The original track really caught the imagination of a nation in turmoil. With reports of shootings and stabbing popping up, on what seemed to be every other news bulleting and with the media continually focusing on the lack of role models in certain communities, it felt that the nations inner city youth needed a reminder that they had a number of positive figureheads they COULD look to.

Bashy explains what he set out to achieve…”I wanted to pay tribute and congratulate a lot of the achievers in our community. The media try and suggest that we don’t have role models, but there’s loads and I’ve put some of them on this track”.

If you haven’t heard the original track being rinsed on RADIO 1, 1XTRA, CHOICE, PYRO, RINSE, KISS or GALAXY then you must have been in orbit for the past month. The remix which featured AKALA, MS DYNAMITE, TY, SINCERE, SCORCHER, WRETCH 32, NARSTIE, BIGZ, CHIPMUNK, REGGIE YATES (NO BIZZI), SWISS, J2K, MIKE GLC, STYLA, TINEE TEMPAH & JAJA has also been getting heavy support all over the airwaves.

Not content with getting all these artists in the booth, Bashy managed to persuade them all to come down to appear in the ground breaking remix video shoot down in Deptford South East London! If that wasn’t enough he also reached out to SKINNY MAN, NOLAY & SKEPTA who wrote exclusive new verses for the track especially for the video!!

Such contributions helped turn ‘Black Boys’ from a great record into a movement, a slice of social commentary that’s sparked debate not only in the inner-city playground’s and forums but university lecture halls and political debating circles alike.

This special edition box set aims to capture the whole movement and not only features all the parts to the remix video shoot and the audio versions, but also a one-hour long documentary. Which includes, behind the scenes footage from the shoot as well as in depth interviews with all the artists involved and industry figures such as SEB CHEW, RAS KWAME, MEGA MAN (SO SOLID), BLAK TWANG, TWIN B, ALEX JORDAN, MANNY NORTE, MTV’S RICKY and many more.
