CARHARTT PINSTRIPE NEW ERA

Posted by James on 22.11.2007, 21:04

American’s or any non Europeans, Carhartt isn’t just a red neck, lumberjack safety and workwear clothing company, but in fact is one of the most respected clothing company’s in Bmx, Skate boarding and even mainstream fashion. So when Carhartt and New Era team up to make a hat you can bet its going to be BUFF..

There is no denying it, the 59FIFTY fitted hat is one of the most “love, hate” things of the last 5 or so years, yet the 59FIFTY goes way back before its recent big bang effect.

The New Era 59FIFTY traditionally is the hat that is regarded as standard issue for American base ball players and fans alike for decades, but with the music industry dictating the fashion of our times with people like Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit), 50cent and over here in the UK Dizzy Rascal and many many more, this hat and brand would be sealed in history and hearts or hates forever more.

Carhartt in previous years have made several collaborations with New Era but for the Fall/Winter Season Carhartt tried something a lil different. Featuring a style of stitching ironically full circle like in a few Base ball teams “Pin striping“. To be fair on the grounds its looks rad and give a touch of class over the other New Era designs I have seen over the years.

If like me you spend more time on NASA space missions than on your hair, and hide this fact by wearing a hat, then listen up. I was conned into having a few hats from a New Era rep at Urban Games some years ago. As much as I wasn’t buying into the fashion aspect of the hat, he did point out that the fitted system would have a hat even for my pea sized head, 7″ inches later and a subsiding of my minus £5 mesh cap I had to hand it to the rep, that hat was damn comfy.

To be honest I cant really say much more about a hat, as in my eyes, a hat is a hat. However same reason people buy flash and expensive cars, people like to spend in the regions of £30-40 on hats. Unlike a expensive car it wont make you mentally faster because its on your head, it may get you banned from going into certain clubs or might prevent you getting mugged as a modern day camouflage in this Chav-land of England.

BEWARE: There is a bad habit of pride of keeping this item looking pristine by leaving merchandise sizes on and even in some case’s leaving the price tag and even in scummier areas of London, lil kids running out of footlockers with the security tags still in place.
