FEELING HOT HOT HOT: NEW ATTILA HOT BARS

Today i woke up about an hour ago. The sun is high in the sky, the air is crisp and there are no clouds to be seen. Despite winter getting such a bad rep, this is my favourite kind of weather. Waking up to it can’t help put a smile on my face. This is further reinforced due to the amazing day I had yesterday, which involved driving to Portsmouth, public urination, getting spat at, fines for riding on the pavement and watching a fuck load of stupidly dope riding go down. Coupled with this all the people we were with were really, really good dudes. I know this has nothing to do with the Attila Hot Bars XL I have just got my greasy little hands on, but I thought I’d just point out how good shit a previous day can put you in a good mood the next.

first came across Attila when I mistakenly bought a pair of Odyssey Jim Cielencki pedals (oh yeah, check my fresh spelling!) which absolutely didn’t suit me. Some northerners had brought these pedals out, and they were only £20 so I thought ‘heck yes! I’ll support ‘em, they’re English. It probably saves them from going down pit’. They were outstanding pedals which set Attila in high esteem with me. Since then I purchased one of their stems (no, it hasn’t stripped. No, it’s never slipped) and had my eyes on their bars but thought nothing of it. But yesterday a gentleman of Retribution Bmx by name of James Cox sorted me out with the Hot Bars XL in this amazing silver/chrome colour (see pics) which I am so into it hurts.
With an 8″ rise they are good and tall which seems to have become a trend, but nonetheless I still actually prefer riding tall bars. They’re 27.5″ wide so there is no need to use your bar ends to plug extra bits of metal on the end like some cool-kids-from-the-block are doing. The main technological wizardry at play here is the fact they are butted 11 times, which is why they weigh in at a mere 730 grams. The welding quality is top knotch and very neat indeed. This is the second new part to the front end of my bike in as many weeks, and it feels a million miles better than it did before. The nice simple graphics on the sticker finishes these bad boys off a treat.

This review is not a trick to try to coax you into splashing out on some bars which will then snap so I can have a good titter while you’re in an NHS waiting room holding your teeth in one hand and you jaw bone in the other. No. This is to show that the English can not only hold their own when it comes to riding, but when it comes to making parts too. Attila is run by people who ride, and ride fuckin’ hard at that, so they’re not going to be cutting any corners in manufacturing because they’re running the parts themselves. If you like big bars or are thinking of trying some out, I can’t think of a better company to give your loot to in the process. Attila is as English as the talking dog in the Churchills advert (you know, the one that goes ‘’oooooooooooooh yesss!”) and if you can buy English you should, especially when the product is this good.
Check out Attila for more products and the like, and if you haven’t got a copy of Hit The Switch yet, do it if for no other reason than the fact the disc has a picture of a full English breakfast printed on it.
Bless.
