Sorry to get political but unless you are a moron you will have noticed that Israel are in the process of committing what is tantamount to genocide in the Gaza Strip. It is good to see riots and protests, and maybe someone who can do something will actually listen. In the meantime, check this site out for ways in which you can help stop the Israeli apartheid regime.

I would like to point out to any reactionary people out there that has NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH JUDAISM. I am not an anti-semite, I just strongly disagree with the actions of the Israeli state towards Palestine.

A mighty tall friend of mine introduced me to a mighty pleasant Italian chap by the name of Alex Fakso. I was already familiar with his work, having acquired a copy of his first book Heavy Metal published in 2007. Fakso is one of the few photographers within the graffiti world who focuses on the mission as opposed to the finished product. While Martha Cooper and Henry Chalfant’s work in the 1980’s has proved invaluable to graffiti history, what they didn’t capture was what went into the pieces. This is why Fakso stands out. His photographs instead capture the preparation that goes into the finished product: watching spots, entry, organising paint and soforth.

He is away for a little while, but has agreed to an interview upon his return, so watch this space. Until then, check his website for more because he doesn’t just take graffiti photographs.

hey everyone that’s been texting me, have a merry time off work and celebrating time with family, and don’t forget the true meaning of X-mas…
the Sun…. past cultures worshiped the Sun for its feeding crops and agriculture with the all important light needed to grow and in a time that taken for granted technology, such as lights to see wasn’t present. the birth of the Sun so to speak and its return towards the equator again (even though its the earth that is the one that is moving on its tilted orbit).

several religion personified this tale and managed to make a best seller out of this. next time your in a hotel have a look in the draw under the kettle or bed side table, and don’t forget to get ready for the next part of the story, the resurrection (or when the Sun crosses the equator line)…

btw, if like me you are sitting on store credit/vouchers to big high street brands, spend them asap, as unlikely for a major money grabbing retailer is to go into liquidation is, be good to be in a position that you are left holding worthless bits of plastic and paper… wait a minute, sound like money it self…….

British Photographer Gavin Watson has taken an array of diverse images in his career which has spanned over 30 years. Particularly well-known for the book ‘Skins’ released a few years ago now, these images, amongst many others have become strikingly significant and historically valuable. More recently working for magazines such as ArtRocker & Vice, and photographing bands such as Gallows, we of course jumped at the chance for a brief Q&A with the man himself..

My Dad.

Who or what, do you love?
New ideas that evolve us as a species.

Where do your influences come from?
What’s around me, and my instincts and feelings, and a million other things.

If you could have a Q&A with any photographer who would it be and why?
Karsh, because he photographed every important person in the 20th century.

How has your work changed over the years as photography as evolved to digital?
I don’t think it has changed at all in the sort of work I’m doing at the moment for Artrocker. In fact I’m less worried about being technically perfect than I was when I was young, I love noise and life in pictures, I like to make them look real.

What is your greatest ambition?
Win an oscar.

What is your favourite photograph that you have taken?
Haha, I don’t know.

What is your favourite photograph by another artist?

I hate other photographers!

How would you describe your photographs to someone who could not see?
It depends on which photograph.. I’ve got 10,000s spanning over 30 years. It would depend on the picture and I would play music that suited the image.

Whats the hardest part of your job?
Running around after money.

And the easiest?

Taking the pictures.
