Next up on WTP’s Videorama is none other than NJ vet Mike Brennan…
Segment just dropped us a line to let us know of a few additions to their range, and here they are…
I just saw it. It’s fucking incredible. Mind blowing. It’s like when a band does an amazing first album then manages to sustain the amazingness in the second album, if not exceed it. Voices is the first album, Tomorrow We Work the second. This shit is gonna go platinum.
From the new Become Legendary Nike ads. Not really BMX/skate/music relevant, but it is at the same time…
I think this is one of the first competitions we have ever run here at S43, so if there’s a big enough response, we might be able to make it fairly regular, fingers crossed!
This week, thoroughly good dude that Colin at Seventies is, he has hooked us up with a pair of the spanking new, hot off the line Kevin Porter signature Orchids. A nice looking pair of feet protectors with Orchid’s signature sole which I can vouch for is an absolute belter.
So, to win yourself a pair of these Orchid Porters in Black, all you have to do is tell me:
In the video of Kevin Porter currently on the Orchid website, how many 180s does he do? Send the answer with your address and English shoe size to me, henry@style43.com
The competition will close at midnight on Monday, with the winners name being the first out of the hat!
Get voting, your feet could well depend on it!
“What are you doing tomorrow?” “Nothing much.” “Want to come to the Leicester jam?” “Yeah, why not…” - And with that plan drawn up in an MSN conversation between myself and Streetphire’s H-Man, a loose plan for train tickets and meeting points, Style43 representation (albeit relying on tech camera phone usage to get the photos you see here) at the Project 5 Lynched In Leicester street jam was secured.
Yesterday, after many, many weeks of being a lazy good for nothing waste of space, I pulled my finger out of my arse (is it a metaphor, you decide) and began to get things done, both at uni and for S43. I’ve been slacking lately, but I’m looking to amend my ways. First up, here’s an interview I did with Jeff Teague at Animal Bike Co. Enjoy.
Try being in a library at 2.33am having polished off a delicious bagel and a cuppa. Though the wad of notes next to me makes me inclined to work, I’d rather do anything else. Even sit on flickr and find cheesy photos of my friends taken without their knowledge. Here are a bunch of sexy snaps of the usual suspects from Southbank, I won’t name and shame either the riders or the photographers, because that’d be mean. All I’m going to give away is that Tim is looking rather pensieve in his picture…
FBM were always my favourite company when I was growing up. I loved the mayhem, the teeshirts and the frames named after amazing songs. I actually rode a Night Train for a while and it was comfier than slippers made of a kitten’s scalp. I don’t condone fur, I’m a vegetarian, but I felt it was a good comparison.
He may not be able to work out that my brother is in actual fact my brother (”He taught me to air! You taught me to air, didn’t you?”), but apparently he’s got whips and trucks on lock. Adam the shredder riding Cantelowes. Filmed by BG site admin, Paulie!
If you’ve ever been on Style43 before, chances are on the front page you’ll have seen a post by me telling you about something new Aversion are doing, and how much I love the way they’re doing it. Whilst some websites seem to just spew out stuff like this right, left and centre, this time it’s genuine. As a result of this, I decided to find out a bit more about Aversion, and talk to the main man, Mr. Louis Mikolay.
Defgrip informs me that Retribution’s new site is up, courtesy of Mr. James Cox, the friendliest man south of the North Pole.
Plenty of content up on there, so go get involved!
Generally, when we here at Style43 are lucky enough to be sent items to review by companies, we’ll use them for a short period of time and put up a review giving our thoughts and feedback. With my Airtime backpack, I decided to go a different way. Backpacks get put through a lot - this particular model’s easily covered over a thousand miles of riding, train tracks, A-roads and motorways and just walking, whether it’s on my back, stuffed in a boot, crammed into an overhead storage compartment, or being lugged around by it’s top strap - so why not do a longer test, to really see how good a product is?
I say that like it’s a bad thing? First off, here’s the split section featuring Ben Lewis from NSF2. If you go to the Streetphire Channel on Vimeo (Click on the link in the vid), you’ll find all of NSF2. Roots! Kudos to H-Man and everyone else over at Streetphire for doing that. Big tings a gwanin’ for the Streetphire channel, so I hear…
Secondly: 4Down have an amazing new vid up on their site feat. Ben Lewis, Scotty D and Owain Clegg. Super nice editing, really good feel to it, and the riding is off the chain. Seriously - too good. Download the iPod version, watch it wherever you are. It’s interesting to see how Ben’s style/technique/riding has progressed since the NSF2 days. But yeah, awesome vid…
I saw some dude today, with a horses head where his real head should have been, wearing a snazzy teeshirt doing rad bike stunts somewhere in London. I stopped Mr. Horseface and asked him his name and where I could procure a shirt from. He said his name was Charlie Horse and that his shirts were fresher than the hay he was tucking into for his lunch. He also told me he had a website, www.charliehorse.co.uk where one could purchase his sweet merch from. I dig them, it’s good to see a bmxer doing it for himself with a nice design and a decent quality print to boot. He’s also got some new ‘uns on the way, so keep your eyes on the man with the horses head. Anyone with half a brain knows one gear is the way to go, derailieurs are for suckers!
